One of the best things about Japan where the number of unexpected surprises we where dealt with day to day. Having a spare day whilst staying in Shinjuku we took the time to hike out to Fuji Raceway which turned out to be a perfect idea. About an hour and half out of Tokyo along these gorgeous highways that cut through mountains and over huge bridges was simply mind blowing.

Arriving at Fuji Raceway was just another… Seeing the racetrack in real life was so overwhelming I couldn’t help myself but to stand there and shake my head in a good way of course! Whilst observing the track, we noticed there was a AWD day on, which was another bonus! After a short 30 minutes watching the EVO’s & WRX’s scream around the grand prix track, all of a sudden everything dropped off into pure silence. Out of the blue, i hear a little n/a car up the top of the track revving out first gear and dumping second and spinning the wheels… I immediately looked at Nigel and screamed LETS GO!!!!!!!

5 minute drive to the top of the track and there we where at Fuji Driftland, with about 30-40 cars just having some fun on this huge wide open track over looking the mountains and Fuji Raceway. This oldschool Toyota KE70 was one of my favourite cars there on the day, along with an AE86 that I featured on Speedhunters.
