Happy 86 Day

August 6th, 2012

With all my Japanese photos spread across terabytes and terabytes of hard-drives there is one realist that came to mind – Yusuke Nojima-San. I thought I would share this particular shot specifically for 8/6 Day 2012. This day was definitely a highlight on my most recent trip to the motherland. I got to spend the day with part of the RWB Family being Shinji and Nojima. Personally I don’t think we could have picked a better location to contrast the serious looking circuit car. I hope you all enjoy and hope you’ve had a killer day in remembering such a inspiring chassis x

There are so many different positives to Japanese drifting however I think this is a major. Picture this. Arriving at a tight, short circuit based in the middle of a forest and hearing the high pitched revving of a carbureted 16V in a little hachi-roku. This was our opening drift day at Motorland Suzuka which is based in Suzuka itself, about 2.5 hours drive from Osaka city. The drivers name is Fumihiko Ogita and is in a team with another two AE86’s which goes by the name of Ise ☆ Works. Check out the feature here.

Looking Levin Coupe. This car is driven by Asayan who is the owner of Looking Japan, it’s driven by a 16V 4-AGE producing 190ps. Both times visiting Japan I’ve come across cars I’ve only ever dreamt of seeing in person. The amount of publications this car has been in and the amount of media it’s seen is very high but that’s not going to stop me posting photos of it. I love the LED taillights.

Despite all the D1-GP cars in the BEE*R workshop I managed to spot a couple of ‘street’ cars tucked away. This little levin was hiding behind the white 180SX which I’m sure would have been either a customers cars or the workers, either way they looked awesome.

Just as we were about to walk into the office I took the time to have a flick through the large magazine collection they had sitting on the tables. On another rack, dozens of magazines such as; Drift Tengoku, CarBoy, VIP and Vanning magazines were there for anyones viewing pleasure. Next post we’ll look inside the BEE*R office.

When cars weren’t drifting, they were racing. The RunFree AE86’s were absolutely amazing to watch scoot around Mobara Twin Circuit at MSC last year. The schedule was planned perfectly, full of entertainment which lead you to never lay eyes off the circuit. The perfect combination of drifting, team battles, triple class and grip I can easily say it’s the best event I’ve attended to, to date. I’m looking forward to going back to Japan in 10 weeks time. Hopefully all my content from Novembers trip will last until then.

On the way to Tomei, we crossed paths with another Up Garage. The day before, we visited the main shop which is located just out of Tokyo. This was a much smaller shop, but this was the ‘drift’ store. Sitting outside where half a dozen ae86’s which looked like they’ve been sitting there since the 80’s and 90’s, gotta love the Advan Tri-Spokes. I will edit up some more photos from both outside and inside to show you some of the wicked wheels they had for sale!
