hello! it has definitely been a minute since i’ve picked up the camera and taken photos – this event last year to be precise. this past weekend was the initial round of D1GP 2021 rounds 1 & 2 held at okubuki ski resort in shiga prefecture, kansai. below are a selected amount of photos captured through my lens over the course of 3 days. D1GP cars and styling of course isn’t too precise within my category of cool looking cars however the more i witness this event and these cars driving i can’t help but to appreciate it more and more. the level of this event, dedication and focus is truly wild in person and super blessed to be apart of it.

the next round is held in tsukuba 2000 course (high speed main) mid to late June so hopefully be able to make it up there and continue shooting as many rounds as possible.

meihan D course RAW onboard video has now been uploaded to our YOUTUBE channel. super relaxed day of driving with friends playing with the car from last october. ended up blowing the 4.6 diff towards the end of the day however i have ordered brand new gears from nissan so hoping to get back out late this month 🙂 x

Welcome to the custom car world of Kansai, Japan – Osaka Auto Messe 2020 – similar to Tokyo’s Auto Salon – Osaka has its own kind with a little twist of style and presentation.

Similar to January’s Tokyo Auto Salon the Osaka Auto Messe is just a few short weeks after leading into early February which still means absolutely freezing temperatures here in Japan. This too was my first time attending the Auto Messe however this year was a little uncertain with the global COVID-19 pandemic booming during this period. Based off that I was only at the event from the early morning for no more than an hour to quickly walk around and shoot everything that was appealing to me.

This event is held at the port of Osaka near Nanko – Intex Osaka. This event has been running annually since 1997 so has plenty of returning and renowned car shops and business’ showcasing their cars and art every year. It’s estimated that well over 200,000+ people spectate this car show event over the course of the 3 days. If you’re into cars new and old just like the Tokyo Auto Salon i highly recommend visiting this show at least once in your lifetime.

The dates for 2021 have been confirmed which will be the 25th anniversary for the Osaka Auto Messe so expect very large things – let’s all hope the pandemic situation has diluted down completely by then for an amazing year ahead. For those interested February 2021 13-15th. Casey x

meihan sports land yesterday for HITOMIGO free practice and mini-doricon. have been trying to practice as much as possible lately. car is feeling really good since a few things were changed over a month or so ago. the whole setup as a whole is really good at this stage especially at C course.

managed to place 3rd in expert. have to fix a few minor things which will help a lot at meihan this week before kansai all stars qualifying this saturday. also a massive thank you to everyone who has puchased items through the store as of late and your extended patience in regards to shipping times and the global pandemic. big love, caseyy x

Firstly, once again I want to apologise for the lack of blog posts on here recently, unfortunately it just hasn’t been high enough on the priority list of things to do over the past few months but here is the first of many updates to come; Kansai All Stars 2019 (20th Year Anniversary).

Post qualifying for Nara Precture for this years Kansai All Stars most definitely got my nerves going for the first time in a long time like nothing else. The amount of hours I used to spend back home in Australia daydreaming of running in this exact event for so many years was almost a daily thought and motivation to keep pushing forward.

The morning begins extremely early, earlier than any regular Meihan drift day purely of the fact of how many cars, entrants and spectators there are and how much there is to get through within the time frame of the sun rising and setting. After the drivers meeting you are given 1 session of practice for roughly 10 minutes in which you run with your prefecture in seperate classes which isn’t long but more or less to make sure both you and your car are ready and everything is working as it should. Immediately after the practice session you’re straight into 2 qualifying rounds which are divided into the qualifying number you came within your prefecture. I qualified 9th out of 16 which meant I was to run in the same class from the other prefectures as too qualified 9 in their prefectures.

Getting warmed up in the first qualifying session was definitely heart racing but was feeling somewhat confident in myself and the car for the most part as I had driven quite frequently prior to the event. The Kansai All Stars judging criteria is short and simple; make it as aggressive, fast and exciting as possible for the judges and spectators, the flick has to be aggressive and your 2 rear wheels on the jagged cement on the outer line around the main corner at the bottom. The entire day too is single runs only so there is definitely a brighter spotlight shining on you and your driving throughout the day for everyone.

Into the second qualifying session I got about 4 solid laps in before the car decided to break down and into limp mode around the bottom corner causing me to sit out for the remaining 10 or so minutes. Managing to get the car back into pits and check it over it was luckily just a loose bolt that holds the TPS sensor. Missing 3/4 of the second qualifying session definitely didn’t help with more chances of getting through to top 32 however the level of driving at this event is seriously hard to grasp but the urge to continue running and practicing is as high as ever.

At the end of the day there are multiple winners, prizes and what not. There is also an overall prefecture winner in which who gained the most points overall. For this years 20th anniversary Nara Prefecture managed to take the win :)).

We have both been coming to Kansai All Stars for many years in a row and to have run in this years was something I will genuinely never forget not to mention having some amazing photos to compliment.
