SuperMade Gloria

April 5th, 2012

Shirtstuckedin is where all my Japanese content ends up, don’t get me wrong, however I don’t feel it is necessary for feature cars as such. In saying that I’m all for featuring cars, having a closer look what lies beneath but I don’t think it really fits here. For this post, on the SuperMade SR20 Nissan Gloria it’ll be a handful of photos for you to simply enjoy to see what this gorgeous car is made up of. A company such as SuperMade definitely leaves people hanging, wanting to know more about the car, so here you go.

Compared to the S15 the Gloria hasn’t had such a big impact on the internet, in saying that I think it is just as cool, if not groovier. Why? Well in comparison to an S15 it isn’t as popular of course so when one is done to this standard it really makes you respect the hard work that has gone into it.

Filling the guards are a complete set of 18″ Work Meister’s in a contrasting black with the white, pearl paint.

The Y34 has had a bit of a change from the regular 2.5 litre. A well-built SR20DET has been installed. The power figures, I’m unsure but it definitely doesn’t hesitate when on the track.

It was quite surreal shooting the car as the sun was setting at Meihan Sports Land, some of the photos were by far my favourite from the trip last year.

Inside, two BRIDE seats have been fitted, a kevlar version for the driver and a lower model for the passenger side.

Up front there are a few minor changes such as another handbrake, power FC and a few gauges, apart from that the Y34 still remains partially in tact.

As stated above the Y34 not only looks groovy parked up but produces an awesome look when it’s drifting at Meihan. Both the S15 and Y34 came to the Wreck `Em day parked up but I think Yoshida-san felt as if he had to show us a lap or two. Lucky I had the camera ready!

This, is by far my favourite shot. The painter from SuperMade in front of the Glorious Y34. I had about 7 minutes to shoot this car and about 10 to shoot Jesse’s PS13. T- 21 days x

Wreck `Em Meihan Day

March 24th, 2012

The Wreck `Em Meihan drift day was a day where we were up at 3:30am and home by 8:00pm. A day where over 30gbs of memory cards were filled with awe-inspiring cars. A day where the boys on the tour drove Meihan Sports Land for the first time and for some of us, rode in with the best drivers in Japan. After all the drifting we were blessed with a gorgeous, spring sunset over the track which lead to some pretty dramatic photos. Here are a few from the afternoon.

Walking back from shooting the SuperMade SR Gloria I captured this shot, the lighting was so spot on.

Walking back, I spotted MeZ filming the Team Burst family, chatting and having a few jokes. Here is one of the drivers throwing one of the kids in the air. I am so, so fortunate to have spent a whole day hanging out with these guys, they’re definitely more than a fucking crazy drift team that’s for sure.

One of the statements Nakamura-san gave us at the end of the interview was “Lets go back to the mountains in the Osaka prefecture” where he was caught street drifting back in early 2011. Note, the smiles on peoples faces!

Here is a shot of Jesse’s beige beauty sitting in the sunset alongside Ewan’s Cresta from Nagoya.

As the presentations got set up the SuperMade gang were positioned in a perfect spot! Here is Jesse standing behind the Gloria checking out the picturesque sunset.

The SuperMade S15 was screaming out for photos all, day, long. I couldn’t get enough of the 15″ Work CR-01s.

Nakamura-san, fellow from SuperMade, Kuroi-san from M-BROS, Taguchi-san from T-Welding, Shane and Kazuya-san from B-West having a laugh.

Another glamerous shot of the low and wide Gloria from SuperMade with a bunch of gaijin to back it up.

Kazuya-san having a chat about the days efforts with Team Burst, just have a look at his hand gesters.

In most videos you’ll see this little guy, you probably don’t take much notice but he is the person in control of the cars entering the track. Next time you watch a video at Meihan look out for him with the yellow or checkered flag just in front of the control tower.

Here is Yuu-san and his girlfriend during the presentations, a very good friend of Jesse’s and an unbelievable driver too.

To end the day, the Gloria exiting Meihan with blurred cherry blossoms. Meihan really is a fantastic circuit with a very relaxed and friendly vibe. 5 weeks today until I’ll be back in Japan x

As promised, more images from the Supermade cars – Nissan Gloria and of course the S15 Silvia. This photo above is probably one of my favourites from my whole trip to Osaka. I kindly asked the fellow decked out in a Supermade jacket and parachute pants if he’d like to get a photo with the car and he agreed. These type of photos remind me of the Dori Ten styled images with the Japanese pointing to specific parts on their cars pulling stupid faces, however this one was a little more casual.

The day we visited Supermade Takanori-san agreed to park the S15 out the back for me to feature, here is a little teaser on what’s to come very soon. So, I have to ask, what would you prefer? The 4 door Nissan Gloria or the S15 Silvia?

Prior to visiting Japan the amount of time I spent on the internet every day browsing through media on cars that I admired was ridiculous. I never thought the day would come where I would even get a singular photo of the cars I love that much but little did I know I was in for a shock when I landed on Japanese soil. This is why I love Japan so much, the two times I have been nothing but unbelievable experiences have come to the surface. Here I was at Meihan Sports Land on a gorgeous Spring afternoon all alone with this.

After a huge day shooting around 30gb’s of photos from the Wreck `Em day at Meihan Sports Land I thought it would be a good opportunity to speak up and ask a few drivers if I could do some individual photos on the circuit as the sun was setting. The two drivers I spoke to were Jesse Streeter and Takanori Yoshida from Supermade via Shane Bingham. As you may know I featured Jesse’s PS13 which was on Speedhunters a little while ago. What you don’t know is that I also got some time one on one with the SR20DET powered Nissan Gloria. To be completely honest I had no longer than 10-15 minutes to shoot both cars as well as I could. Firstly, I shot Jesse’s followed by this lovely 4 door and what a setting it was.

Takanori Yoshida – the owner of Supermade dropped into Meihan Sports Land just after lunch to do 2 laps to prove what the Gloria was capable of. Sitting in the pits it might look like a big VIP 4 door sedan but this thing really churns the rear tires with no problems at all. Without knowing it was on the track I managed to run to the wall and snap this photo of him exiting the hairpin off the front straight which was definitely worthy of posting. I still have a lot more photos from this little shoot at sunset so stay tuned and keep and eye out for updates on our Facebook Page.

Black and white works… sometimes.

I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off Monday morning with a shot of the Nissan Gloria built from Supermade.
