Sakai City, Osaka-shi

February 26th, 2012

Firstly, I’d like to apologise for the lack of updates across the blog lately. The reason for this is due to travelling. Just over a week ago I was contacted by my father to head over to India on a holiday with him and the rest of my family to help shoot a wedding for one of his cousins. It was quite a swift decision to apply for an Indian visa and jump on a plane half way across the world, however, it was an eye-opening experience to say the least.

As there is still plenty of images from my last trip to Japan back in 2011 the updates will continue to roll on. In saying that, I’m hoping to head over within the next 8 weeks or so hoping to travel around the country for 2-4 weeks. Its almost coming up to 12 months since I left Australia to Osaka for my second trip which is mind-blowing how fast time has passed.

These two photos above were taken on our first night in Japan in Sakai just outside of Osaka. The day was spent picking up cars from the docks and the night was spent fixing and preparing the cars for a heavy 2 weeks of drifting across half a dozen circuits throughout Kansai. In the photos are Shane’s pickup, Honda, TJ’s RPS13 and Nathan’s PS13. I really miss Japan and seriously can’t wait to get back there shooting x

This photo may look a little familiar to you as you have most probably seen an image taken from the same night on the same road at a different angle. Here is a more detailed shot of Todd & Nathans s-chassis parked up on one of the main roads leading into Shinsaibashi, the heart of Osaka City. I have to say it was quite surreal witnessing 9 or so beaten drift cars parked up along a main road with the hazards flashing.

Last night I shot something rather cool, but it didn’t run as smoothly as I was expecting. As you probably know I did my last shoot this month in a workshop using lights, this time it looked to be the same so I’m going to re-shoot this wicked onevia in the daylight. I just thought I’d update you with a shot of this car, it may look like a normal onevia but it’s probably not what you expect. Stay tuned for a full feature on Speedhunters.com.

As I continue to dig up photos from the Autumn Matsuri, I came across this set of images of the Kansai boys when they entered Ebisu. Yes, more photos of John’s PS13, but I can’t get enough. This is one of my favourite photos of the car. Just chilling in the touge car park, overlooking the East Course surrounded by a dozen missiles.

Here, Shane’s quad-bike which he uses to scoot around the mountain to not only save petrol in the car but to have some fun! Oh and John’s car sneaking in the background. Damn Hoshino’s rock!

Erin from JDM Garage arrived in this C33 Laurel. Within an hour of there arrival I was in the car having a blast on the Driftland course, only to find a boost leak, which was an easy fix! The car has had an engine swap from an RB20 to an SR.

Drift Kansai, gathered.

Be sure to check out; K-Tours Osaka, Drift Kansai & Auszoku. There are limited spots left for Spring Matsuri with K-Tours Osaka, ran by Erin from JDM Garage.
