Witnessing D1 cars driving on the street completed my life. I can’t wait to go back… seriously.
To those of you who requested more photos of Naoki Nakamura, this is for you. This particular day was special as it was the first time I had ever been to Meihan, and look what I was blessed with! As you may know I travelled north of Japan late last year, through Tokyo and also up in Fukushima for the Autumn Matsuri. The guys up there have that much guts they don’t really care how close they are to one another as their cars are far from straight chassis. This case is different. Two fantastic drivers side by side on one of the tightest tracks in their D1 cars. I remember Shane Bingham was speaking to Nakamura and he mentioned that they try not to think what will happen if they crash, they just want to get as close as they can and if anything happens they’ll worry about it then.
I can’t believe I haven’t posted any photos of the ever so famous Supermade D1GP Onevia until now. Witnessing the S15 and the Gloria at Meihan was unreal until this guy rolled in, it really put the icing on the cake. The car is so well presented, yeah there are huge fender gaps and the wheels and the guards haven’t been crafted around the wheels but hey the car performs unbelievably well and looks stunning!
One of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had in my life. Check out how close these guys get not only to themselves but to the concrete block! Excuse the grain, these were basically pitch black (^_-)
I could easily stare at this photo all night and reminisce that Friday night in Nagoya. I love Mind Control!
I think I’ve put this off for long enough now, I woke up this morning remembering I still have the video to post from my most recent trip to Japan. Just to tease you a little more I’ve edited up two direct screen grabs from the 4 minute clip to get you a little bit more excited for the release. I have to say some of the footage is pretty surreal but the video itself isn’t too great as it was my first time editing a video.
The video has been kept simple with a nice bit of music over the top but nothing too overpowering so you can still hear the amazing noises some of the cars put out. Singular runs, trains up to several cars a time and some amazing twin action from these 2 S15’s, I will be posting the video on the site within the next 48 hours so stay tuned! Casey.
Over the past few nights I’ve been quite busy with a personal project. 48 hours ago I set myself a little challenge of making a small clip using random Japanese footage, seeing as it just sits in iPhoto getting old I thought I can share it with you guys. Last night I spent the night reading and watching videos on Youtube on Final Cut Pro tutorials to try and get my head around the basics. I have to put it to videographers, cutting and editing a clip is a whole different ball game. After converting all the footage to Prores 422 and importing it into FCP I began cutting up footage and matching it with a song. By 12PM yesterday (still hadn’t slept) I had something finished which I was pretty happy with. Shortly after I passed out and woke up at 7:30PM.
I’ve decided to upload it and share it on here with you guys. The first clip will be of this unforgettable night in Nagoya street drifting with some of the best, the D1 Mind Control S15’s. Some amazing photos and videos were captured and I really look forward to sharing it with all my readers. Stay tuned, for now I’ll let you froth over this image of them. One last thing, as you know I don’t watermark any of my images and I don’t really mind them getting around the web, but please if you do decide to share them on another sites please just give a quick link back to here or my Facebook fan page. Thankyou very much.
