Yesterday I finally had my car booked in to get a custom exhaust made up by Nathan from Fabulous Fabrications. You might have seen a lot of posts here and there in regards to Effsqaured or Fabulous Fabrictions purely because I want to help a good friend of mine get a kick-start in the industry. Nathan has been welding for a little over 5 years now but has generally been caught in a job where his skills couldn’t really shine to the surface, however that has changed over the past couple of weeks. He has recently transitioned from his full-time job at a welding company to his own fabrication business.

Yesterday I had booked in for a full exhaust which I was seriously excited about. I offered to hang out with him for the day, talk smack, give a helping hand and help time fly by. These selected images below go from the exhaust being tacked up all the way through to the finish product alongside the standard exhaust. I have to say it was awesome watching Nathan work his magic on his own stomping grounds, so relaxed in every way possible and is super swift at getting his work done.

Since returning back to Australia from Japan I have been thinking how I can somehow preview my work to each of you individually as a solid, in your hands, in front of your eyes. These days everything, as you know is on the computer with a few clicks of the mouse. I thought about doing a café styled booklet however the budget for half a dozen of them is out of my range, for now anyway. Compensating that idea I’ve thought of a more balanced solution – 2012/2013 Automotive Volume Shirtstuckedin Calendar.

These past few weeks I’ve been scouting through my galleries and archives from my trips to Japan trying to source the best possible images to use for print. Above is the design I will be looking to go ahead with for the front and back of the calendar. I, however want your help as an audience of Shirtstuckedin to submit in a comment below what image(s) pop into your head that you think are worthy of getting featured in this calendar that could potentially be hanging in your garage, workshop, kitchen, work office or even the bathroom. Whatever, wherever you hang it I don’t mind, I just want to make sure I can proceed this idea in the best possible way for you all.  The calendar will be from December 2012 through to December 2013 therefore 13 specific images must be chosen. It will also be showcasing a handful of images that are yet to be leaked all over the internet which I’m really excited to show you all. If you’re willing to share your opinion, comment below. With car events and meets scheduled on the calendar almost everyday when I’m in Japan it is always refreshing to venture out to the tourist sites. When we were staying in Osaka we made our way to Osaka Castle which I hadn’t seen on my previous trips. They were quite strict on photographs inside, however we managed to take plenty from the viewing area up top. More to come x

Abbitt Wilkerson from AWFILMS has been working his ass off in order to get our stickers done as quickly as possible. On top of school work, shooting and editing I must say he is doing an unreal job. By the look of things I’m so-far impressed with how they are coming up from the cutter. For those wondering about stickers orders will begin when the shipment has arrived, they will be shipped internationally and will be setup on the site via PayPal. Over the past few weeks I’ve been changing up my gear list. Let’s hope from here on in this will stay how it is! For those of you wondering what I use here is my gear list: 5D Mark II,EF 35mm f1.4L, EF 85mm f1.2L II, EF 135mm f2.0L, EF 400mm f2.8 ISL.

After our first day wondering around Shinsaibashi we found ourselves at Shane’s workshop in order to prep the cars for the action packed 2 weeks ahead of us. As I’ve stated previously my trips to Japan have been nothing but lack of sleep and a lot of shooting. This particular night was no different. Here is a photo of John Dollison looking very worn out as he was sitting inside his PS13. This photo would have been taken around 1:00am and we still had to drive to Suzuka that night, well I should say morning shouldn’t I.

One of the main dramas was of course TJ’s RPS13 trying to eat his rubber and even the rims. After an hour or so they finally found the perfect medium of ride height and guard clearance, in saying that it still scrubbed. After everything had been sorted we packed our belongings into several low and loud drift cars and set off to Suzuka. This was my first time driving a turbo car, as most of the drivers were completely wrecked after more than 12 hours of working on their cars the majority of them were passed out in the passenger seats. I was lucky enough to pilot Daniel’s SR20 C33. Cruising the Japanese highways alongside several other drift cars will be an experience I won’t forget.

These things are just as interesting as cars sometimes. Fixie’s in Japan are so popular and I’m sure are continuing to grow. As you may know a lot of people in Japan either walk or ride to get around the cities, compared to Australia it’s crazy the amount of people that exercise, even if it’s in their business suit. These two photos were taken on the first night of my last trip, I really love the colour combinations the Japanese come up with, but I have to say this top one is my favourite.

I’m sure I have a lot more photos of these bikes around, I’ll just have to wait to get my 35mm scans done!

After a huge weekend of Time Attack action I thought it would be a good time to do a post on the blog. The past weekend was completely packed with non-stop action, both days the team and myself were awake for over 20 hours and in that time we were shooting for about 11. As for the rest that consisted of editing and writing. So far we’ve been in Sydney just over a week and only have a few days left which is a little sad. As of today I couldn’t have asked for a better trip with the Speedhunters crew; Matt, Dino and Charles, it’s been very productive. This photo was taken this morning; a gorgeous winters day in Sydney City, over looking the harbour bridge and the Opera House right after we got breakfast at a little cafe` just up the road from this park. Surprisingly the cafe` we got breakfast from had quite a famous actor working behind the coffee machine. For those who watch Packed To The Rafters you might be familiar with the greek fellow who goes by the name of Nick ‘Carbo’ Karadonis.
