How refreshing it is to see a pro photographer using prime lenses only. My quest to obtain an ultimate collection of prime lenses for my Minolta X-700 film SLR now seems *that* much more justified.

Im surprised there isn’t a 24mm 1.4 or a 50mm 1.2 i know i want them, still love your lenses and your shots.

What do you recommend for a good all rounder? Or two good ones to have? I started using Nikon D40 and want to use it here to capture the car scene as well as you do but don’t have a clue on this whole camera thing. I am using the Nikon AF-S DX 18-55mm lens that came with it.

I was just looking up your lenses and lets say I am not looking for anything that…..expensive. So, if you can recommend anything that is about 1/3 of the price of your cheapest one, I’d appreciate it. Or, just say that I am screwed 🙂

You have a DX sensor body, meaning some (FX) Full Frame lenses
will not autofocus with the D40, you have a x1.5 crop factor.
a Nikkor 50mm f1.8G AF-S which Auto Focus with your D40 and its cost $219 US dollars will be 75mm making it a short telephoto prime. You also have the 35mm DX f1.8G AF-S $199.00 US dollars.

thanks for the suggestions. I am still doing my research but its hard to understand, more than “getting closer” and wide angle, what a lens can do for me. the two that you mentioned, what are the benefits of using them if you don’t mind me asking?
