RPS13 @ Meister Cup

October 24th, 2011

Putting aside the Burst drivers such as Nakamura-san and Mitsuyoshi-san this particular RPS13 stood out to me at the Meister Cup back in April. The car was modified very cleanly and was also sitting on one of my favourite wheels of all time – Blitz 03’s. I hope to build something very similar to this one day.

The classic petrol station shot with a drift car.

Continuing sorting through more photos from Motorland Suzuka I came across this particular one of TJ Waldon in his HotRoad Type X RPS13, this image could almost sum up why I love the Motorland circuit as much as I do, the surroundings and the amount of trees and natural things you have to work with is absolutely awesome. It took a few attempts to get this photo as the camera had a few focus problems with all the trees in the way, but this is pretty close to what I was aiming for.

Here is TJ – Todd Waldon’s Japanese drifter, a Type X RPS13 dropped on 17″ Work XT-7’s and 18″ AVS Model 5’s on the rear which works wonders for the Type X and J-Blood aero. Shooting this car was a real pleasure. The second night of being in Japan we were prepping the cars until 2-3am in the morning in order to make the Motorland Suzuka in a few hours. This photo was taken at around 1am in the morning whilst testing the rear guards on TJ’s car. Awesome Japanese drift car parked up a service station filling up looking ever so stylish, quite authentic? I think so.

This reversing demon goes by the name of 西尾光芳 Nishio Mitsuyoshi, normally when you think of backwards entries at Meihan Sportsland you’d picture Naoki Nakamura. This fellow was spotted by Jesse Streeter around 6 years ago practicing and was surprisingly good off the bat. He is currently attending 1 track and the mountains at least once a week and it sure seems to be paying off.

Jesse showed me a little something from a few years ago from a Drift Tengoku publishment on Mitsuyoshi-san, take a look here. I have a perfect run that I filmed which I will edit up for you guys very soon, for now enjoy these few photos of another Burst master.

I’m sure you guys remember the last post I did on the Nagano Koubou RPS13 which you can see here. I received a number of comments and emails asking for me to post more photos of this gorgeous s-chassis. Well, here is a photo of the two boys from Nagano Koubou rolling into Meihan on the Wreck Em drift day. As I just got my film processed I will be sending all the negatives off to Chris in New Zealand to have them scanned onto disks at a decent resolution which will show many more photos of these groovy characters and their machines. For now, sit tight and enjoy the sighting of these two immaculately styled cars, I could happily say the black 180SX has been one of the coolest cars I’ve seen in person.
