Day in, day out our days were spent punching in phone numbers to tracks, workshops and shops. Our second day in Tokyo brought us to Bee*R. Walking into the workshop was ever so surreal with the ever so famous Bee*R R34 sitting on jack stands with a mechanic asleep right beside it. It was hard to believe all the D1GP cars are built right in this very garage. More to come.

Cars that choose to take on the not-so forgiving walls of Minami generally mean they can steer. I was a bit iffy seeing this little Trueno hatch drive out for the first time. 10 minutes in, my jaw was dragging the bitumen. If there was a stand out car that was smashing Minami, in a good way it would have to be this little AE86. I remember standing inside the pits and watching it hop over the jump, screaming past the wall. Each time I had to either cover my ears and or look away, I’ve never heard a car this loud before.

Exiting off the wall, entering into the tight left corner he gained unbelievable amounts of angle every single time. One reason why he was such a standout was definitely his level of consistency. Note; his facial expressions.

On the first day, we made our way into the centre region of Tokyo City, planning to visit both garages and shops such as Super Autobacs. The previous night, being our first night in Japan we were unable to find any accommodation, therefore we slept in the car in between a number of rice fields. Definitely one to remember. Arriving in Tokyo earlier than expected, it turned out we had about 3 hours to kill before anything opened. Most shops open around 11:00am in the morning, rather than 7:30-8:00 here in Australia. We took the time to walk a few kilometres around the city. Crossing paths with thousands of businessmen and women this image captured the early morning rush perfectly in my eyes.
